Departe de malul mediteranei, de tavernele pline de localnici si vizitatori, si mai departe de siturile areologice antice sau bizantine, se afla muntii mici din Peninsula Mani. Inaltimea lor nu depaseste 1300m. De la defrisarea lor, din timpul de asa numita glorie al grecilor sau romanilor, solul aproape ca nu a avut nici o sansa sa se formeze din nou pe substratul stancos al lor. Muntii au gazduit cel mult cateva carduri de capre sau oi si o fac si azi. Fiecare mica suprafata de ‘pamant’ a fost smulsa cu enorm de mult munca stancilor.

Asa s-a format un peisaj cvasi-selenar, batut de vanturi si ocolit de activitatile oamenilor. In zilele noastre nimeni nu trece pe aici in afara de cativa administratori sau intretinatori ai instalatilor eoliene.

Noi am vrut sa-l vizitam si sa-l simtim.

Accesul in zona cu autoturismele nu este posibil, cu bicicleta insa se poate urca in munti din mai multe localtii, fie din est din Kokala, din nord pe drumul de acces al parcului eolian, din vest din mai multe sate vechi de la maul marii sau de pe platoul de la nivelul de cca 300m altitudine.

Am ales sa plecam de la malul marii, din Mezapos, sa trecem prin Mina si Polemitas, sa folosim vechile drumuri de magari si carute mici si sa ne apropiem de culmile muntilor Mani.

Oarecum ingijorati de multe trenduri carora sunt supuse peisajele din Peloponnes (Wind Farm Overkill to End Greece Tourism Once and for All | The Greek Vibe) am vrut sa vedem cu proprii ochi ce se intampla in acesti munti.

Ne intereseaza sa aflam daca:
1. proiectul este si in beneficiul financiar al localnicilor, daca da in ce procentaj, sau doar al investitorilor
2. daca localnicii au fost integrati in procesul de elaborare al documentatiilor de mediu sau daca au fost implicati doar strict formal in proces
3. daca au fost efectuate studii corespunzatoare de impact asupra mediului si daca da, care sunt concluziile acestora
4. cum vad ONGurile locale demersul de edificare al unui parc eolian industrial in zona in contextul dezvoltarii durabile

2019: Consiliul de Stat a amânat pentru 21 iunie o audiere privind instalarea turbinelor eoliene în Mani, sudul Peloponezului, într-un caz înaintat de 28 de asociații naționale și locale care se opun planului. Potrivit asociațiilor, decizia statului de a instala turbine eoliene pe creasta Saggias, o zonă desemnată NATURA2000, este neconstituțională și ilegală, iar construcția lor va provoca daune ireparabile patrimoniului natural și cultural al regiunii. De asemenea, reclamanții au depus la Parchetul Gythio procese împotriva încălcării restricțiilor, care sunt specificate într-un studiu relevant și care au fost aprobate de Ministerul Mediului. HELLENIC PETROLEUM HOLDINGS S.A. (“the Company”) announces, in the context of the implementation of its growth strategy in RES, the signing of a share purchase agreement for the acquisition of “MAKRYLAKKOMA S.A.” and “SAGIAS S.A.”, both owned by Copelouzos Group and International Constructional S.A. Group, by “HELLENIC PETROLEUM RENEWABLE WIND FARMS OF MANI S.A.”, a wholly owned subsidiary of HELPE RENEWABLES S.A.. The wind farms, with a total installed capacity of 55.2 MW, are located in Eastern Mani, Laconia, Greece, and have been in commercial operation since December 2019. The consideration for 100% of the shares of the two companies amounts to €90m.
The two wind farms of “MAKRYLAKKOMA S.A.” comprise 13 wind turbines with total installed capacity of 29.9 MW, while the other two wind farms of “SAGIAS S.A.” comprise 11 wind turbines with total installed capacity of 25.3 MW. It is estimated that the four wind farms can generate renewable energy to cover the needs of approximately 40,000 households or 8,000 SMEs.
